Welcome to BootBudget (the “Site”), a free suite of military compensation and retirement calculators. By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these Terms of Service (the “Terms”). If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
Not financial advice. The Site provides general estimates for informational and educational purposes only. It is not financial, tax, legal, investment, or retirement advice, and using it does not create any advisor-client or fiduciary relationship. Always verify figures against official sources and consult a qualified professional before making any decision.
1. Informational use only
The calculators produce approximate estimates based on representative rates, pay tables, and assumptions that change over time and may not reflect your specific circumstances. Actual pay, allowances, taxes, benefits, and retirement outcomes are determined by the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS), the Department of Defense, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the IRS, and applicable law – not by this Site. Where the numbers here differ from an official source, the official source controls.
2. No professional relationship
Nothing on the Site constitutes personalized financial, tax, legal, or investment advice. For guidance about your situation, consult a licensed professional or a free Military OneSource financial counselor. Do not make, or refrain from making, any financial or career decision solely in reliance on this Site.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Site for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
- attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Site or its systems;
- scrape, republish, or resell the Site’s content or output as your own; or
- rely on the Site as the sole basis for any decision affecting your finances or career.
4. Privacy & data
The calculators run entirely in your browser. We do not collect, store, or transmit the personal or financial values you enter. We use privacy-friendly, aggregate page analytics to understand overall usage (such as page views and general device or region information); this does not identify you individually. Any inputs you save are stored only in your own browser, and any “share” link encodes your inputs in the URL you choose to share rather than on a server.
5. Intellectual property
The Site, its design, text, and calculators are owned by their operator and are provided for your personal, non-commercial use. All trademarks and service marks referenced (including branch and government program names) belong to their respective owners; the Site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense, the Department of Veterans Affairs, or any government agency.
6. Disclaimer of warranties
The Site is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the estimates are correct, current, or suitable for any particular use.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Site’s operator will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or other damages arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Site or its estimates – including any financial or career decision made in reliance on it.
